Also covered are areas including song structures, pre-conditions of creativity, anatomy of a ‘hit’ song, developing themes and ideas and getting going. There will be plenty of time to write your own songs and to receive constructive feedback from the rest of the group.

Previous songwriting experience is useful though not essential, and the ability to play guitar or keyboard is an asset.

Tickets £13.00* (£11.00* conc)

The Midnight Daisies will be opening up for me at the Wirral Guitar festival gig at the Qeens Royal, new Brighton, on November 5th...pure class.

Gerry is a veteran acoustic “power-solo” player on the circuit on Merseyside and abroad, a winner of the prestigious PRS John Lennon Award for songwriting and promoter of his peers via the “Northern Song Project” which pre-dated current showcase initiatives by fully ten years.

Still playing and writing, Gerry, author of “Sweet Liberty”, “Marvellous Marvin Gaye” and re-worker of titles like “Valerie” in swing jazz style and “Pinball Wizard” in the style of Johnny Cash, has songs featured in stage shows at major venues in the area from the Empire to the Floral Pavilion and still is proud to play smaller venues in the area which delight in his mix of acoustic folk guitar styles, blues licks, soul vibes and good times. He is a specialist in the songs of Bob Dylan.

Featured in the event will be his Harmony “Valencia” (1935), Dick Knight 12-string (1970), his “Golden Vision” customised guitar and of course his Gibson Gospel acoustic (1976), acquired from another local favourite and author of “Mist over the Mersey”, Jack Owen in 1982 which has been gigged from L.A. to Liverpool and beyond.

(Maybe a fan of Gerry's personalised the poster!)
